International Missions
Matthew and Teresa Lee serve with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Cameroon, West Africa. Wycliffe’s vision is for God’s word to be accessible to all people in the language of their heart. Wycliffe works with other organizations around the world to translate scripture into the nearly 2,000 remaining languages of the world that still need it.
Matthew is a Language Technology Specialist for Wycliffe. He has the opportunity to teach cool Bible Translation, linguistic, and literacy tools to Cameroonians and Missionaries. Working together with teams across the country, he gets to see measurable progress in Bibles and Dictionaries, as well as work with the translators to solve daily troubles. He also writes training materials for French-speaking Africa. When needed, he communicates user problems and ideas to the software developers and tests new tools.
Teresa has a heart is for working with children. In Cameroon she is teaching kindergarten to missionary students at the Greenhouse School.
Matthew is from South Boston, Virginia. He graduated James Madison University (JMU) in 2006 and has a double major in Integrated Science and Technology and Philosophy. In 2022, Matthew completed his MA in Applied Linguistics through Dallas International University (DIU). He is part of the Adjunct Faculty at DIU.
Teresa grew up in Louisa, Virginia. She also attended James Madison University and has a degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Special Education.
Persecution Project Foundation
Persecution Project Foundation (PPF) provides active compassion for the persecuted. We bring crisis relief and spiritual hope to victims of civil war, genocide and religious persecution. We also provide on-the-ground assistance while restoring hope and rebuilding communities through the love of Christ.
PPF was founded in 1997 by Brad Phillips. In 1998, Brad traveled to war-ravaged Sudan and shot hours of video chronicling brutal persecution against Christians by the National Islamic Front government (now known as the National Congress Party).
This began a long journey, taking PPF through virtually every corner of South Sudan. PPF helped local pastors plant churches, supported orphans, built medical clinics, provided emergency relief to refugees—and kept taking pictures.

Local Missions
Scripture tells us we cannot be saved in deeds of service without faith in Christ, but our faith lacks sincerity if it doesn’t reach out to others, both internally and externally. God says he wants our service to go beyond our personal growth to acts of kindness, charity, justice and generosity.
At First Presbyterian, some make casseroles. Some provide transportation, repair homes, send cards or financial help. Others participate in active prayer groups. Regardless of the gifts at our disposal, each one of us is called to offer those gifts back to God by SERVING ONE ANOTHER.
Listed below are some areas in which our church reaches out to others through LOCAL MISSION OUTREACH:
